Miami & South Florida Attractions for Young and Old
Once you've spent time on the lovely sands and in the blue waters of South Beach, you might want to explore the myriad attractions available throughout. One of South Florida's favorites is Jungle Island, a world of exotic animals, eco-friendly programs and interactive shows set on 18 acres in Watson Island. There's also the Miami Seaquarium, where you can swim with dolphins, feed the stingrays and learn all there is to know about the manatees, Florida's state marine mammal.
An always-fun choice for visitors is a boat tour of Biscayne Bay, which departs from Bayside Marketplace. You don't just get a wonderful view of Miami, but you'll also get a chance to spot the luxurious homes of South Florida's rich and famous, including Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin.
Other locations to visit in South Florida: Venetian Pool, a gigantic pool formed from a coral rock quarry in the early 1920s that is fed with spring water and hides away cool caves and grottos; and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a gorgeous Italian Villa set in 180 acres of lush, romantic gardens.
One of visitors' best bets? Saving a space in a Miami Sightseeing Hop On-Hop Off Bus Tour, which offers multilingual narration and stops in some of Miami and the beaches' most popular attractions.
