Art & Music Appreciation Come to Life with the Vibrant Colors of Miami Beach

There's much more than salsa dancing and fruity cocktails to Miami Beach—there are plenty of loftier cultural venues to visit. One of its crown jewels is the Bass Museum of Art and its impressive Old Masters collection, which also welcomes rotating contemporary exhibitions that are of particular relevance to the area's ethnic and artistic communities. There is also an inspiring Holocaust Memorial, which includes a meditation garden and moving sculptures. The Wolfsonian-Florida International University, a museum focused on art and design as an expression of the human experience, holds pieces from 1885 to 1945. Another local favorite is Britto Central, which celebrates Miami's most beloved artist, Romero Britto, and his Neo-Pop bursts of color. Other repositories worth a visit include the Miami Children's Museum and the Miami Art Museum.

When it comes to music and the performing arts, few places are as vibrant and welcoming as Miami Beach and South Florida. You can find anything from live performances right on the beach, to performance art (and art galleries) on popular Lincoln Road and international stars gracing the stage at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater. Also making its home in Miami Beach: the Miami City Ballet, which offers visitors a variety of performances—from classical to contemporary choreography. Miami Beach also welcomes world-famous festivals throughout the year, including the South Beach Wine and Food Festival and international expos frequent the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Just across the causeway from Miami Beach, you'll find concerts by international superstars and world-class sporting events at American Airlines Arena. At the Adrienne Arsht Center, you can be treated to Broadway Shows, the Florida Grand Opera and a variety of other visiting music, dance and performance shows.

You're in the heart of Miami Beach's Art Deco District, so exploring the architectonic jewels around you is uncomplicated and inspiring. The Miami Design Preservation League offers several walking tours, including a self-guided audio tour, while several companies offer Segway tours of the area. Feel free to contact the friendly staff at The Wave Hotel for more information.
